Sometimes you just have to start over…..

I walk through my office several times a day. I see what needs to be done.  But I don't do it. I have been thinking about the process for about 2 weeks now.  I think I have almost formulated the plan. It involves a big box, maybe more than one.  Sometimes you just have to completely empty the space and start over.  I am not quite to that point, but much of the "stuff" will be leaving the space for a bit.  Some of it won't come back, but most of it will.  And what comes back will be in systems.  Some of the systems already exist within the space, some will be created.

Creating the systems is the fun part for me grin   I have been trolling dollar stores and T.J. Maxx, looking for ideas.  I hear Publisher's Clearing House has some interesting stuff.  I recently included a client on one of these expeditions.  Ostensibly it was to find ideas for her space, but I got some good ideas, too.  I like systems that use vetical space and allow me to see what is inside.  I can't use filing cabinets because I always forget about what I can't see.  Hanging shoe organizers with clear plastic pockets, and clear plastic organizers intended for storing scrap booking paper are popular in my office.

So, this is how I work.  In your space, I ask a lot of questions, hopefully that don't offend.  I need to understand how you use your space, what you want it to look like, and what we need to create so that you will be inclined to use it consistently.

Does this sound like something you are ready to try?  Send me an email at julie@simplyfocusedcoaching.com and we'll get you started.

Dealing with Desk Clutter

I have the entire day to myself! I can get all of my work caught up in the office, on my computer today!

Then I walk into the office and see this...

The Chicken or the Egg?

Chicken or the egg?  Depression or the mess?

It has been proven that the level of clutter in your house can affect your state of mind.  And your state of mind can affect the level of clutter in your house.  So, which came first?
