Dealing with Desk Clutter

February 04, 2016

Related to: Business Organizing, Home Organizing, Simplification

I have the entire day to myself! I can get all of my work caught up in the office, on my computer today!

Then I walk into the office and see this...

Suddenly, I feel discouraged. What a mess. It will take too long to clean up, and the list goes on.

Then I remember that I have systems in place! One of my systems is this:

I have figured out that most of the pile on my desk is usually from about 6 categories, so I purchased a small file box that came with 6 folders. I labeled them accordingly. So, today I grab the file box and in about 3 minutes, I have filed ¾ of the paper covering my desk. The rest of the paper goes to the shredder or to one of these boxes:

I love these boxes!  I am a very visual person, and if I can’t see it, I forget it is there. So, I have the see-thru file box and my Stuff-tainers, that I purchased at the local scrap booking store. They are intended to store scap booking supplies, but I pride myself on finding creative solutions.

All of the paper has been dealt with and this is what my desk looks like now It is not perfect, but it was quick and easy and allows me to get my work done!
